promotional artwork and visuals for a local festival that I co-organized, late 2016
From late summer to December 2016 I took part in organizing a two-day music festival in Halle, with nine acts from Finland, Italy, Chile and Germany, a juggling performance, as well as three DJs. All the promotional art and the cover illustration was designed by me. I also hacked together an interactive caleidoscope visualization with Processing, which was projected at a hexagon-shaped screen behind the musicians. Most of the other themed decoration was designed by art students from Russia, Latvia and Germany.

The term light pollution describes the destruction of the aesthetics of a room. Everyday blazingly bright LED lights and neon colors torture your retinas. However, with motion-conforming music in a suitable room, Lichtverschmutzung will use this effect to the contrary, exciting your optical nerves in more agreeable ways.
a world building exercise about myth and men in the megastructure, since 2011
ABANDON has long been a pet-project of mine, where I funnel those creative energies that keep me awake at night. It used to lend from Tsutomu Niheis BLAME!, but it has outgrown that phase. I guess by picking up Marshall McLuhans torch I want to lead my alter ego cyberspace dweller out of the cave of his self-inflicted un-doing. If the medium is the message, then abandoning our far-from-human future, within an un-real dream—before it 'comes actual nightmare, is increasingly a worth-while endeavor. Because the Megastructure is a metaphor for where we must not go, yet in its shadow we approach.

I was invited to explore the “beautiful strange” as the given thematic outline. My clients and I agreed that birth-giving involves both beauty and a strange environment, doesn't need a long explanation, and leaves enough room for interpretation. After a few different versions I arrived at a strong hot-and-cold contrast and a babies impression of wonder.

composition of stick figures across the gym walls of my old elementary school, late 2015
The Lindenschule was being renovated by my client Dorit Baumeister (Lienig & Baumeister Architekten), and because the schools gym building could use some artwork, I was commissioned to create the overall composition for fitting a whole bunch of stick figures—drawn by the pupils themselves—onto the walls.
